About Me

I help organizations become technically agile and leverage AI throughout their engineering processes wherever applicable. Through Ampyard , we provide custom AI workshops tailored to your business context and tech stack.

With 15+ years experience, I've co-created AI products (FaceQuest and Notesally), authored books on TDD and AI-augmented development, co-authored the research paper 'Agentic Code Surgery for Brownfield Systems' published on Zenodo (2026), and written the white paper 'Real Productivity, Rare Pushbacks' on AI agents. I work with teams from startups to Fortune 500s, helping them ship quality software using proven engineering practices and modern AI tools.

Preprint Empirical Software Engineering 2026 ยท Zenodo

Agentic Code Surgery for Brownfield Systems

Vivek Ganesan, Kiran Kashyap, Kamal Raj Sekar

Proposes a seven-agent workflow - Plan, Map, Break, Cover, Implement, Refactor, Finish - that forces an AI assistant to characterize existing behavior with tests before touching code. Applied to a real brownfield codebase, this workflow produced 43 new passing tests (raising statement coverage from 0.85% to 16.78%) vs. zero new tests with a regular approach, and avoided all critical and major bugs the regular approach introduced.

Whitepaper 2024 ยท Ampyard

Real Productivity, Rare Pushbacks

Gauzer

Observability-first struct validation library for Go. Drop-in struct tags, 61ns zero-alloc performance, and native slog/OTel telemetry on every failure - so validation errors land in Datadog, CloudWatch, or Azure Monitor as queryable structured events, not strings you have to parse.

View Contribution

playwright-specgen

Turns Playwright trace.zip files into readable user-flow YAMLs, API maps, and executable test files - automatically. The missing observation layer between recorded human behaviour and AI agent operation: gives coding agents (Copilot, Cursor, Claude) machine-readable behavioural specs instead of opaque legacy code.

View Contribution

filesystemwatcher-mcp

MCP server that gives AI coding agents (Gemini, Claude, Cursor, Copilot) event-driven access to file-system changes - creations, modifications, deletions, and moves - without busy-polling. Built on Watchdog with cross-platform native OS events and strict safety guardrails.
